Chapter Seven

“Daniella?” Sandy checked the kitchen before entering. She’d seen enough of Daniella’s tantrums to know that the one in the barn had been a major blowup.

Daniella had her back to Sandy, but when she turned to face her, Sandy was surprised to see a smile lighting up her face. “Sandy! Come on in. I was just making a pot of coffee. Do you want a cup?”

Only two hours had passed since Daniella had walked into the barn and found Sandy with the men. Could her anger have already subsided?

Daniella laughed and put her back to her again to fill the cups with the steaming brew. “Don’t worry. I’m not going to bite, but I don’t blame you for not wanting to get near me.”

She pivoted around, holding a cup in each hand. Walking to the table, she set one cup on the side of the table away from her then blew on her drink before putting it down in front of her.

Sandy slipped into the kitchen and over to the table, but she was still ready to flee if she had to. “Okay, what happened to the real Daniella? I’ve seen you mad, and you’ve never gotten over your anger this fast.”

Daniella took a sip then looked behind Sandy. “Where are the guys? I want to apologize to them, too. But first, to you. I don’t know what got into me. Obviously these men are into you and not me—which, I admit, is hard for me to handle—but I accept it. I’m sorry I acted like such a bitch.”

Could Daniella be sincere? Sandy let out a breath of relief and slid onto the chair. She reached out for her friend’s extended hand and took it. “You’re not a bitch.”

Daniella arched one eyebrow, sending her a yeah, right look. “You’re always so nice to me, but let’s face facts. I’m a major bitch, especially when it comes to men. I’m sorry I interrupted your time with them. But that’s over now. I’m turning over a new leaf. From now on, I’m going to try and be more like you. Forgiving, kind, and, hopefully, more attractive to super hot men.”

Sandy couldn’t believe it. In fact, she couldn’t remember the last time Daniella had apologized to her. But everyone could change, right? “Let’s just chalk it up to a bad night. You shouldn’t have acted badly, and I should’ve had the good sense to turn the guys down when they approached me.”

Sandy thought she saw a flash of anger cross her friend’s face, but she wasn’t certain. Shouldn’t she give Daniella the benefit of the doubt? The pleasant, new-and-improved Daniella was back.

“Are you kidding me? Three amazing, hotter-than-the-sun men want you, and you reacted like any normal young woman should. You ran with it. I don’t blame you for getting a roll in the hay. Trust me. If the shoe had been on the other foot, I wouldn’t have hesitated to do what you did. I should’ve taken their hints earlier in
